Championship Play-off Preview: Batley v Workington

Bulldogs coach John Kear expects to have a fully fit squad for Sunday’s clash against Workington Town, although he will not be able to call on any of Batley’s dual-registration players.

Kear said: “We need to make sure we’re composed, and pay attention to the process and the details.

“Yes, the play-offs are exciting, but we’ve also got to keep things in perspective and realise that you’ve still got to work hard.”

Bulldogs have won four of their last five games, while Workington last 40-18 at Halifax last week.

Shaun Briscoe is sidelined and a number of other players face late fitness tests as coach Gary Charlton battles to assemble a 17-man squad.

Charlton said: “We’ve got to step up in intensity if we’re going to compete against Batley, especially at their place.

“We’ll focus all our energy on this game and just see what comes out of it.”
