Championship 1 salary cap to be raised

UPDATED: The salary cap for League 1 is set to be increased next year.

Love Rugby League understands the salary cap for the third division will be be raised in 2017 to help clubs compete for promotion.

The Championship salary cap has been already boosted so that they can spend up to £1.85 millon as long as it is 50% of their revelant income.

It is believed the cap for League 1 will also go up with clubs allowed to spend more as long it is 50% of their relevant income.

Toulouse joined League 1 this year and Toronto will enter the competition in 2017.

The RFL has been approached for comment.
