Championship 1 Preview: York City Knights

The major story coming out of Championship 1 during the close season was the news that Chris Thorman had decided to drop down two divisions and join York as player/assistant coach.

Thorman’s undoubted quality will see him become one of the division’s star men and it is around the former Huddersfield and Hull FC stand-off that the Knights will aim to climb the table.

Joe McLocklan has been brought in from Featherstone and will give York that added spark around the ruck, with the club also excited about some of the young talent recruited from the local amateur scene.

An impressive victory over Leigh in the Northern Rail Cup group stages has set the tone for what looks like being a great season for everyone at the Huntington Stadium.
