Champion Schools finals return to London for 2013

The Champion Schools finals will return to London in 2013 to be played the day before the Challenge Cup Final.

This highlight of the schools Rugby League calendar offers an opportunity for players, schools and parents to travel to London and be part of the Challenge Cup weekend providing an unforgettable experience and a great showcase for the sport.

RFL Director of Participation David Gent said: “The 2012 national finals were recently held at Odsal Stadium due to the capacity of venues and accommodation during the Olympic and Paralympic events. 

“In 2013 we’re delighted to confirm that the national finals will be held in London again on the Friday before the Challenge Cup Final and the venue for these 2013 finals will be announced shortly.”

Amid all the current debate over competitive school sport the RFL’s flagship competition remains the largest Rugby League tournament in the world and continues to expand year on year introducing more and more students to competitive sport.

Official figures show that a record 30,713 players and 1819 teams were involved in the 2011-2012 competition and this is expected to continue to increase.
