Challenge Cup round-up: Oldham on fire, Bulman scores six, four amateur sides progress

There were lots of tries in round three of the 2019 Challenge Cup.

Marcus Webb scored a hat-trick as Hunslet sealed a convincing 56-10 win against amateur side West Bowling at the South Leeds Stadium.

Nathan Chappell, Jack Lee, Josh Tonks (2), Tom Ashton and Cain Southernwood (2) all went over for Hunslet. Webb was sin-binned in the first half for punching.

Newcastle Thunder ran in nine tries to thrash West Wales Raiders 48-0 at Kingston Park.

Keale Carlile (2), Misi Taulapapa, Lewis Young, Aaron Ollett, Carne Doyle-Manga, Mo Agoro (2) and Niall Sidney went over for the North East club.

Keighley Cougars were made to work by Distington for their 28-14 victory at Cougar Park.

Jack Coventry, Harvey Hallas, Alfie Seeley (2), Jason Muranka and Davey Dixon crossed the whitewash for the Cougars. Keighley hooker James Feather and Distington half-back Scott George were sin-binned in the first half for fighting. Distington’s Shaun Adams was also yellow carded late on for dissent.

North Wales Crusaders grinded out a 31-18 win over London Skolars at the New River Stadium.

Kenny Baker bagged a brace for Crusaders, while Karl Ashall, Callum Hazzard and Simon Atherton also scored for the Welsh outfit.

Harry Maders, Matty Wilkinson and Zack McComb all scored hat-tricks as Oldham battered Haydock 80-10 at the Vestacare Stadium.

Anthony Bowman, Emmerson Whittel, Adam Brook and Kyran Johnson (2) posted further efforts for Scott Naylor’s Roughyeds.

West Hull beat Dewsbury Moor 26-10 at the West Hull Community Club on Sunday.

Josh Wood, Reece Gooch, Luke Moss and Ryan Langton went over for West Hull.

Lock Lane were too strong for Wigan St Judes as they won 24-4 at Parsons Meadow.

Craig Savage, Chris Siddons, Lewis Price and Dale Cogan scored for the Castleford-based side.

Featherstone Lions came from behind 10-8 behind at half-time to beat York Acorn 20-10 at Thanet Road.

Danny Glassell (2), Connor Paver, Scott Glassell and Ben Mawson crossed the whitewash for the Lions.

Thatto Heath Crusaders battled hard to emerge 30-24 victors against Rochdale Mayfield at Close Street.

Adam Saunders scored a hat-trick for Crusaders, with Niall Allen, Mike Stark and Ben Heyes also going over. Thatto Heath had Jamie Tracey dismissed on the half hour mark for a high tackle and Rochdale full-back Wayne English was yellow carded for kicking the ball away.

Doncaster progressed to the next round after easing past Coventry Bears 38-16 at the Keepmoat Stadium.

Sam Doherty, Brandon Douglas (2), Jordan Cox, Connor Bower and Matty Beharrell (2) crossed for tries for the Dons.

Whitehaven put in a dominant performance as they scored 14 tries to smash Wigan St Patricks 74-4 at the Recreation Ground.

Andrew Bulman scored six tries for Haven, while Dave Thompson crossed for four. Callum Phillips (2), Sam Forrester and Chris Taylor also scored for Gary Charlton’s Cumbrian side.
