Challenge Cup round-up: Four League 1 teams set up potential SL clash

Four League 1 teams have earned themselves a potential Challenge Cup meeting with Super League opposition following this weekend’s fourth round action.

York saw off Championship opposition Rochdale 26-20, joining Toronto Wolfpack, who beat London Broncos on Friday night.

The meetings between Barrow and Keighley and Doncaster and Gloucestershire had guaranteed at least two League 1 teams in the hat anyway, with the Raiders coming out on top 20-0 and Doncaster winning 48-22.

On Sunday, Hull KR continued their imperious start to 2017 with a 48-10 beating of Sheffield, while Halifax secured safe passage with a 20-6 victory over Hunslet.

In perhaps the most heavyweight tie of the round, Featherstone came away from Odsal with a hard-fought 21-13 win over Bradford.

The winners of the 11 ties this weekend will be joined by Huddersfield, Leeds, Leigh and Salford in the fifth round draw, which will take place on Tuesday morning, as well as Whitehaven and Oxford, who are yet to play their fourth round game.

Batley avenged their early season league defeat to Toulouse by winning 34-16 in France, while Oldham came from behind early on to knock out the last remaining amateur side in the competition, Haydock, in front of the BBC cameras on Saturday, 40-12.

Swinton and Dewsbury had won earlier in the weekend against London Skolars and Newcastle respectively.
