Championship side Whitehaven have signed Catalans duo Corentin Le Cam and Cesar Rouge, as well as Luke Broadbent from Warrington on loan.

Le Cam, 22, made his international debut for France last October, scoring a try against England, and has made five first team appearances for the Dragons.

Standing at 6’8″ tall, Le Cam has featured in the Elite One Championship with reserve side St Esteve.

Rouge is a highly-rated young half-back, aged 19, who made his debut for France in the same game.

Both players are heading to Cumbria on four week deals, while Broadbent has signed until the end of the season.

Broadbent, 19, is the son of former Whitehaven full-back Gary Broadbent, who was part of the National League 1 league leaders’ shield winning side of 2005.

Whitehaven reaction

Whitehaven director Ashley Kilpatrick said: “I’m chuffed to get Luke over the line and to see him following in his father’s footsteps in playing for the club. He’s a good returner of the ball and talks well out the back having seen him play several times in person and also seen him on video.

“He’s come through a full time environment at Warrington and has Stefan Ratchford and Josh Thewlis in front of him so first team opportunities have been limited. We’d like to thank Gary Chambers who of course is a Whitehaven lad and everyone else at Warrington in helping us with this deal and getting it over the line.

It’s brilliant to have Corentin for the next month. He’s a French international and is highly rated in Perpignan and he is fully expected to play in the World Cup having scored against England last year. He’s a big lad at 6 ft 8 to be running out wide in the back row for us.

It’s great to have Cesar for the next month. He’s very highly rated by everyone at Catalans and can play in the halves or at nine. He’s quick and loves to take the line on.”
