Catalans run riot over Robins

Catalans have spanked Hull KR at the KC Lightstream Stadium, handing out a 40-0 thrashing.

The assault started virtually from kick-off with the Dragons scoring twice in just the first four minutes.

At 10-0 the Robins managed to hold the rampant Catalans off for a while but it didn’t take too long for the visitors to start finding a way to the try-line regularly again.

Tony Gigot made a brilliant try-saving tackle at 16-0 to stop James Greenwood from crossing. That was arguably the best it got for the home team.

Catalans kicking game was excellent while its forward pack made metres with the ball easily.

Gregory Mounis scored just before half-time to put Catalans 28-0 in front at the break.

In the second half the tries kept coming for Catalans, Willie Mason crossing for his first try for the French club but powering past four defenders.

Hull KR had no answers and Ben Cockayne was sin-binned for a professional foul.

The victory moves Catalans up to 14 points, the same as second-placed Wigan.
