Catalans release Matty Smith

Catalans have released half-back Matty Smith from his contract with immediate effect.

The 32-year-old only arrived at the Dragons ahead of last season on a two-year deal but he found chances limited in Steve McNamara’s side.

Smith made 16 appearances for Catalans before joining Warrington on loan towards the back of the year.

In a short statement released by Catalans, it read: “The club would like to wish him all the best for the future.”

The former England international’s next destination has not yet been confirmed.
