Catalans head for training camp

Struggling Catalans have headed to a three-day training camp as they try and get their season back on track.

The Dragons have won just two games since Steve McNamara took over back in June, and a home defeat to Leigh last weekend leaves them in an uncomfortable position in The Qualifiers.

McNamara has taken the team to the Font Romeu national training centre to take part in training sessions and group activities.

Football Manager, Alex Chan, said: “Font-Romeu offers high level facilities and this camp is an opportunity to take the boys out of their habits.

“It’s the first camp for Steve and the team since he is at the club and he wanted to bring the boys out of Gilbert Brutus.

“This camp will strengthen the cohesion of the group and help the boys to feel refreshed mentally before the next four crucial games.”

Catalans have won just one of their three games in The Qualifiers so far, a narrow 20-18 win over London.

They were then thumped away at Warrington before a heavy home defeat to the Centurions, who were the only other side the Dragons have beaten under McNamara so far.

Their next game sees them travel to Halifax, before going on to play Hull KR, Featherstone and Widnes.
