Catalans hand trial to American football player

Catalans Dragons have revealed that they have given American Football player Brent Calloway a week-long trial.

The former University of Alabama running back will spend this week training with the Perpignan club’s reserve team.

The 22-year-old is 180cm tall, and weighs 100 kilos. Significantly, he can also run the 100m in 10.8 seconds.

“It’s interesting to work with him and to give him the opportunity to show his qualities,” Dragons CEO Christophe Jouffret said.

“We’ll take a decision at the end of the week.

“He will train with our reserve this week and will have physical and technical tests with the staff.

“It’s interesting to gauge the capacity to adapt to the Rugby League for an athlete coming from another sport.”
