Catalans drop Walker

Catalans have dropped Australian utility back Chris Walker for the Challenge Cup match with Salford for disciplinary reasons.

Walker, 30, joined the club in the close season from Gold Coast Titans and is the Dragons’ leading try scorer in Super League this season.

A statement said the club will be making no further comment at this stage.

Signed on a two-year deal, Walker had previously been involved in a contract dispute with Bradford, having originally claimed to have agreed a deal to join the Bulls for 2010.

He has played more than 100 games in the NRL for Brisbane, South Sydney, Sydney, Melbourne and Gold Coast and has made six State of Origin appearances for Queensland.
