Catalans Dragons hooker Alrix Da Costa has signed a new two-year deal with the Super League club.

The extended contract will secure his future at the Gilbert Brutus Stadium until at least the end of the 2024 season.

Born in Limoux, the hooker signed his first professional contract in 2016 after being captain of the Dragons academy team. He made his debut the same year, before making his international debut in 2017 with France against England in Avirgnon. Da Costa was also awarded the club’s Rookie of the Year that season.

The 24-year-old also represented France at the Nines World Cup in Australia in 2019.

He has made 85 appearances for Catalans Dragons, scoring four times. In the current campaign, he has featured seven times.

He said: “I’ve been at this club since 2016 and I really feel like home.

“It’s a team that plays in the top of the Super League table and that’s what I want. I am very happy and I thank all the people who have renewed their trust me.”

Head coach Steve McNamara added: “We are very happy with Alrix’s development and are pleased he has agreed to stay.

“He is the current first choice hooker for France who has shown great patience whilst vying for game time along with Micky McIlorum.

“We are certain he will continue to improve and play a big role in the clubs future.”
