Catalans forward Greg Bird could face two months on the sidelines after suffering a broken thumb.

The former Australia and New South Wales representative had scans on Monday to determine the extent of his injury after picking up the injury during their friendly against Toulouse Olympique on Friday.

Bird does not require surgery on his thumb, but he will be out of action for four to eight weeks.

It is a blow for the Dragons, who begin their Super League campaign away at Castleford Tigers on Friday.
