Casualty Ward: Castleford blow ahead of vital clash & Alex Walmsley latest

Alex Walmsley update
St Helens duo Konrad Hurrell and Alex Walmsley both picked up knocks in the derby defeat to Wigan at the DW Stadium. Kristian Woolf confirmed that England international Walmsley suffered a foot injury and is likely to miss the final game of the regular season.
Meanwhile, centre Hurrell was fit to feature against Wakefield but was rested. Goal-kicking winger Tommy Makinson returned from injury, having missed Friday’s game against the Warriors.
Castleford blow
Half-back Danny Richardson looks likely to miss Saturday’s crucial match against Leeds in the race for the play-offs. The 25-year-old suffered a lower leg injury. He was seen on crutches following the defeat to Salford and looked to be in a lot of pain.
Head coach Lee Radford admitted he will be struggling to field a side for the game at Headingley Stadium. Following the 50-10 defeat to Salford, he said: “We need to try and get 17 fit players, ask them to go out and do their best.
“We’ve got a spine that you would not dream of playing if we had a fully fit squad, unfortunately, and our middle out there looked horrendous.”
Stefan Ratchford injury
Warrington head coach Daryl Powell has said Stefan Ratchford will probably miss their final game of the season after picking up a groin injury.
Matty Ashton is also expected to miss the final game of the season through injury.
Wigan sweating on Liam Farrell
Wigan back-rower Liam Farrell will undergo scans on the knee injury that saw him leave the field during the club’s 30-10 victory over St Helens.
Hull KR injuries
Hull KR half-back Mikey Lewis has been ruled out of the remainder of 2022 due to concussion. Full-back Lachlan Coote has also been ruled out having suffered his third head knock of the season. He is in doubt of featuring at the World Cup for Scotland later this autumn.
Liam Kay suffers broken hand
Wakefield utility Liam Kay broke his hand during their 34-18 victory at St Helens. The Ireland international should be okay for the World Cup.
