Catalans Dragons have confirmed that Remi Casty will captain the team in 2016.

The French international prop captained the club last season, as well as in 2012 and 2013 before he went over to the NRL to play for Sydney Roosters.

“I’m really proud to be captain of this team,” said Casty.

“It’s a huge honor to represent the club, in particular this season, with the club celebrating its tenth anniversary.

“I know I’ll be supported by my team-mates and I’m looking forward to starting the 2016 Super League season.”

Catalans head coach Laurent Frayssinous revealed that Casty was always his preferred option to lead the side on the field.

“It was not a hard decision for me, Remi was an obvious choice to everyone in this role,” he said.

“He is a natural leader and is highly respected players within our group.

“He is an example on and off the field, who always gives his best for the team.

“He will be heavily supported by a group of leaders.”
