Catalans Dragons have confirmed that their skipper for the 2017 season will be Remi Casty.

Casty has previously captained the Dragons in 2012, 2013, and following his return from Australia in 2015 and 2016.

“I’m really proud to be captain of this team, it’s a huge honor to represent the club,” he said.

“We had a tough 2016 season but the team is now focused on 2017. I know I’ll be supported by my team mates, with players such as Greg Bird, Sam Moa, Thomas Bosc or Jason Baitieri.

“I’m now looking forward to starting the 2017 Super League season.”

Catalans coach Laurent Frayssinous believes that Casty was the obvious choice to be skipper again.

“We have shared a lot since the start of the preseason on the club values, identity and on the team culture we want to build,” he said.

“That’s why Rémi was an obvious choice in this role. He is a symbol of the club, a natural leader and is highly respected players within our group.

“He is an example on and off the field, who always gives his best for the team.

“We have many experienced players in our squad and he will be heavily supported by a group of leaders.”
