Castleford Tigers forward Nathan Massey has been awarded a 12-month testimonial by the Rugby Football League.

The 32-year-old has played his entire career at Castleford.

He was signed by the club at the age of 15 and progressed through the club’s academy. Massey made his debut in 2007.

Massey played in the 2014 Challenge Cup Final defeat by the Leeds at Wembley Stadium. He also featured in the 2017 Super League Grand Final defeat by the Leeds at Old Trafford.

The loose forward or prop has been awarded a testimonial to begin in 2023.

He wrote on social media: “Over the moon the RFL have granted me a 12-month testimonial for the 2023 season at Castleford Tigers.

“I’ve had the privilege to play my entire professional career (16 years and counting!) at this great club, approaching 300 appearances in the famous black and amber.

“Details for sponsorship opportunities, planned events etc. will be posted in the near future.

“If anyone would like any details regarding sponsorship, please drop me a message or email.

“But first, let’s bring a trophy back in 2022.”

Castleford Tigers new era in 2022

Castleford opened their new campaign with a home defeat to Salford in the Super League.

Despite the defeat, there were promising signs off the field as the club announced a sell-out crowd for their home opener at the Mend-A-Hose Jungle.

They continue their season with a trip to Halliwell Jones Stadium on Thursday. Daryl Powell will face his former club for the first time as new boss of Warrington.
