Castleford set to take O’Brien on loan

Castleford are set to sign Warrington half-back Gareth O’Brien on loan to replace the suspended Rangi Chase.

Chase, 26, was handed a two match ban earlier this week for a reckless strike on Zak Hardaker during last weekend’s win over Leeds.

O’Brien, who spent some time on loan at Widnes last season, trained with the Tigers on Wednesday with a view to agreeing a one month loan deal.

The 21-year-old made 11 appearances for the Wolves in 2012, and is likely to be named in Castleford’s 19-man squad for Saturday’s televised game against Bradford.
