Castleford have no intention to sell Clark

Castleford have no intention of selling star hooker Daryl Clark.

Clark, 20, has been subject of speculation linking him with a move away, to help ease the club’s reported financial issues.

But Chief executive Steve Gill told the club’s official website: “Daryl Clark is contracted to Castleford Tigers and players like him will always have people interested in them.

“As far as we’re concerned Daryl is a Castleford Tigers player and will remain a Castleford Tigers player.

“We have no intentions at this moment in time of selling him. I brought Daryl in to this club as a 13-year-old and I don’t want to be the one that lets him go.

“There were a couple of approaches for him last year but I’m not aware of any this year.”

One man who does look likely to leave is Rangi Chase, with Gill confirming that an NRL club, known to be St George Illawarra, is interested in his services.

Gill added: “There is an Australian club that is interested in Rangi Chase and he has said that he would like to go there.

“We want to keep Rangi – he’s our player – but ultimately it’s Rangi’s call.

“We don’t want to keep a player at Castleford Tigers that doesn’t want to be here – I want people at this club who want to be at this club.

“We will leave that call to Rangi; if he makes it and wants to leave then we will make it happen and look at compensation.”
