Castleford’s postponed game against Wigan will now be played on Friday June 22, the same weekend as England’s international with New Zealand.

The Round 6 game at the Mend-A-Hose Jungle was postponed due to the weather last Sunday and will now kick-off at 7.45pm on the Friday of what was previously a free weekend for all Super League clubs to accommodate the international.

The following day, England take on New Zealand in Denver with a number of players from both sides expected to feature.

Luke Gale and Mike McMeeken from Castleford and Wigan trio John Bateman, Sean O’Loughlin and George Williams were all named in Wayne Bennett’s England elite performance squad earlier this month.

Doubts have already been raised about the test match due to the NRL’s apparent refusal to release players for the game.

Another postponed Castleford game, at home to Hull KR on March 1, is yet to be re-arranged though both clubs are hopeful to confirm a date early next week.

Earlier this week, Leeds confirmed that their postponed game at home to Catalans will now take place on Wednesday June 20.
