Castleford aiming for Cup glory against Salford

Castleford coach Daryl Powell knows that his team must play to their highest standards, if they are to beat Salford on Saturday and progress to the next round of the Challenge Cup.

“The Challenge Cup competition is obviously a very special one to us all,” he said.

“There is no doubt this will be a tough game for us against Salford Red Devils. We will need to be right at our best to progress to the next round.”

Salford Red Devils beat Hull KR 44-26 last week, bouncing back well from a defeat to Catalans Dragons the week before.

“It got us back into winning ways and it was important we did that because of the close game we had at Catalans,” said Salford coach Ian Watson.

“We felt we should have got more out of that and gave the game away a little bit, so to get a win was a good positive note.

“Cup games are different, it takes the pressure of the league away for a week. Everyone wants a good crack at the Challenge Cup because it’s such a prestigious competition.

“We’re no different and I presume Castleford will be no different as well.”
