Former Wigan winger Brian Carney is set to make his Warrington debut in their derby game against St Helens on Saturday.

Carney, 32, has been named in Tony Smith’s 19-man squad and the club have confirmed he will definitely feature in the televised clash.

The former Great Britain international scored a try for the Wolves reserve side against Celtic Crusaders last weekend.

Boss Tony Smith said: “He certainly needed a couple of runs in reserve grade. He had a massive improvement in the second week so he’s better prepared for when he does play.”

Carney hasn’t played a senior game for more than two and a half years, an international match in the 2006 Tri Nations. – his last club game came in the NRL for Newcastle Knights.
