Carney not concerned over Cas abuse

Salford winger Justin Carney is prepared to face abuse from his old club Castleford when he returns to play the Tigers this Sunday.

Carney left Castleford on loan in controversial circumstances at the end of last year.

The Australian was a cult favourite at the Jungle, scoring 72 tries in 67 games in three seasons.

Carney will play against the Tigers for the first time this weekend.

“It is what it is,” he told The Yorkshire Post.

“I have said before it was my own doing so I have got to suffer the consequences, but try to play my own game.

“Cas’ fans are pretty vocal, but they are great fans. But Cas is a tough team so I can’t let them get to me because they are dark horses this year, I think.

“I have got to be on my game and can’t let that [any abuse] get to me.”
