Carney hopeful of Castleford play-off push

Castleford winger Justin Carney has not ruled out his side’s chances of making the Super League play-offs.

Carney, 24, remains optimistic after the Tigers beat Yorkshire rivals Wakefield 49-24 over Magic Weekend.

He said: “It’s not out of the question. We are breaking it down into blocks, it is just a building concept now. We’ve just got to work on each game we play. This is the first block and we’re the second game in. Everyone’s happy, which is the main thing. We just have to wait and see.

“We put everything we’ve practiced out there and we’ve still got a lot more improvement in us, which is really very pleasing, but we have still got a lot of work to do and we will be working hard during the week.

“I think we were all pulling in the right direction. We went out there and dominated from the start.

“That’s the key, to get a roll on from the start instead of feeling our way into the game. We have to go out there and start how we want to start.”

The Tigers have won two of their last three games and moved to within two points of Widnes and Wakefield on Saturday.
