Carney doubt for season’s start

The 2010 Dally M winner Todd Carney is a doubt for the start of the season after picking up a groin injury.

The Sydney Roosters half back will require surgery following scans on his groin and is facing an eight week recovery period.

He is definitely out of the Roosters’ trial games as well as the NRL All Stars game, but the club are hopeful that he will be ready to play their Round 1 match against South Sydney Rabbitohs.

Carney, who almost moved to Huddersfield for the 2009 season, made his debut for Australia in the end of season Four Nations.
