Carney doesn’t suit Hull FC

Hull FC have confirmed that they have no interest in signing Todd Carney, the former Cronulla Sharks stand-off.

Sacked by his club, and awarded what amounts to a life ban by the NRL, Carney’s ‘bubbling’ prank and its aftermath have been well-documented in recent days.

But his options for moving to Super League look limited, not least because previous criminal convictions may prejudice his chances of obtaining a UK visa.

“It’s a shame for the lad with what’s happened as I watched him on Friday against Brisbane and he went pretty well,” said Hull FC football manager Motu Tony.

“I can’t really say that we want to sign him because we are already too far down the line with a couple of other players.

“He would certainly be a good signing for someone, but I doubt that would be us.”

Dr Marwan Koukash has also taken to Twitter to confirm that Carney is not a target for Salford.
