Carney boosts Rovers’ promotion push

Hull KR have boosted their Championship promotion push by signing explosive winger Justin Carney, subject to receiving the necessary visa clearance.

The powerful outside back joins the Robins from Salford Red Devils and will make the move to KCOM Craven Park on a contract until the end of the 2018 season.

The 28-year-old Carney had spells with Canberra Raiders and Sydney Roosters in the NRL, before making a big impact in Super League with Castleford Tigers, where he averaged better than a try per game with 72 in 67 appearances.

Carney was recently suspended by the RFL for eight games after admitting using racial language, leading to his sending off in the Challenge Cup against Toronto Wolfpack last month.
