The Australian threequarter feels that Powell has reignited the West Yorkshire club’s sense of purpose, after some disruptions in recent seasons.
“Last year was a bit disruptive, but Daryl came straight in, and fitted in right away,” Carney told Love Rugby League.
“We didn’t really feel the brunt of it. But Daz is awesome. He’s a great coach and he’s the right man for this club.
“He’s taught us a lot this preseason. We play for him, he’s one of the boys, but when it comes to authority, he’s got it.
“You couldn’t ask for a much better coach. All the boys are on board with him, and we’re all on the same track.
“That was the biggest thing in the last couple of years, I think, and now we’re all moving in the same direction.
“It’s a big plus for this club.”
Carney is also pleased with the way preseason has progressed at Cas, and is now desperate for the real action of Super League to start.
“I think the boys have been training really well. As a group, we’re going the best we can.
“We just need to get in the game mode now, and put what we’ve practiced onto the field.
“We’re going great guns.”
