Wigan centre George Carmont will be out for a month with a broken thumb.

Carmont, 33, picked up the injury in Sunday’s home defeat against Huddersfield Giants.

Head Coach Shaun Wane said: “It has been confirmed that George has sadly broke his thumb and it looks like he will be out of action for four weeks but this gives an opportunity to someone else to step up.

“It is a blow to the Club and to George but we have to deal with it.”

Wigan host Leeds in front of the SKY TV cameras on Saturday, and are already without second-rower Liam Farrell, who picked up a one-match ban earlier in the week.

Carmont is in his fifth season at Wigan, having joined from Newcastle Knights in 2008, and has scored 60 tries in 125 appearances for the Warriors.
