Doncaster chief executive Carl Hall is promising the club’s first-team squad a tough preseason, and cannot wait to see them get stuck in.

The Dons were relegated to League 1 last season, but Hall feels that the club now has a group of keen, hungry players who are desperate to succeed.

“These players we’ve got wanted to get going three or four weeks ago – they’re that keen,” Hall said, according to South Yorkshire paper The Star.

“They’re all young, keen and eager and looking forward to starting training.

“We don’t start properly until late February early March so there is a lot of time to do a lot of work.

“I’m pretty sure Pete Green, Andrew Vincent and the main man Gary Thornton will get them in great shape before we start.

“It’s going to be a tough, tough old season and we understand that.

“The boys are in next week, nice and early.

“And they’re in for a gruelling time, I can assure everyone of that.”
