Canterbury Bulldogs have signed hooker Sione Katoa from Penrith Panthers on a two-year deal.

The 24-year-old made his NRL debut for the Panthers in 2015 and has made 47 first-grade appearances so far.

Bulldogs chief executive, Andrew Hill, said: “We are delighted to be able to add someone of the calibre of Sione to our forward pack in the knowledge that he will provide both experience and quality.

“We have continued to look to add depth in all positions and the hooking role is a crucial part of that.

“With the emergence of Jeremy Marshall-King as one of the most promising emerging players in the NRL, we are pleased to have been able to complement his development by signing someone who we think is the right fit for our club.”
