Canberra have signed Wigan half-back George Williams on a three-year deal, according to The Mole.

The Raiders have won the race to sign the England international, who also attracted interest from New Zealand Warriors, reports rugby league’s favourite and trusty rodent, The Mole.

Williams has made no secret of his desire to play in the NRL over the last couple of years and has attracted interest from ‘several’ overseas sides.

The Raiders are desperate to bring in a half-back to replace Blake Austin, who moved to Warrington Wolves in the off-season, while the Warriors are still looking to fill the boots of Shaun Johnson, who joined Cronulla Sharks.

Williams would become the fifth Englishman to play for Canberra, linking up with Josh Hodgson, Elliott Whitehead, John Bateman and Ryan Sutton.

The 24-year-old has made over 150 appearances for hometown club Wigan and has earned 10 caps for England.
