Former Hull, Leeds and Wigan winger Mark Calderwood has joined Harlequins on trial.

Calderwood, 29, was released by the Airlie Birds at the end of last season having only managed four games during an injury hit 2010 campaign.

Quins head coach Rob Powell said: “We are delighted to have Mark on board. We need more strength in our outside backs and Mark is a great fit. He has a wealth of experience and a proven track record to score tries.

“I would like to give Mark the opportunities, through his trial, to show the quality he has in the past; I know he could to be a great addition to the squad.

“I look forward to seeing him in action and adding another dimension to what we currently have.”

A former England international, Calderwood was the leading try scorer in Super League in 2002 and 2003, and picked up a Grand Final winners ring with Leeds in 2004.
