Burrow: There’s no excuses

Leeds Rhinos skipper Rob Burrow says his team were terrible in their thrashing by Widnes and have no excuses.

The Rhinos were handed a 56-12 whalloping by the Vikings at Select Security Stadium.

“We were wrong in all areas,” Burrow told the Yorkshire Post.

“There’s no excuses, just terrible. I’ve been here a long time and this club’s had quite a few bad days.

“Rugby league is a rollercoaster – you can be at the top and you can certainly be at the bottom. Today it was terrible, but credit to Widnes, they were outstanding.

“How you deal with lows and how you react is something that defines a team. We have got to address this and move on. We need to bring out the performance of a lifetime next week.”

Burrow declined to blame the loss on the three first half injuries.

“If we’d had those three out there the result would have been the same,” he said.

“It’s unfortunate we’ve lost key players, but we have got to move on.”
