Burnett signs Doncaster deal

Hull forward Mike Burnett has signed a dual-registration contract with Championship 1 side Doncaster.

Burnett, 23, spent last season on loan at Harlequins and was originally released by the Airlie Birds at the end of the year, before earning himself a place in Peter Gentle’s squad for 2012.

He has been working on switching from back-rower to prop in the close season, although his build up to the new campaign has been disrupted by an appendix operation, which forced him to miss Hull’s pre-season training camp in Tenerife.

The Hull-born man, who has made more than 50 Super League appearances, made his Doncaster debut in the 29-18 loss against York in the Northern Rail Cup on Sunday.
