Young English forwards, George and Thomas Burgess have re-signed with South Sydney Rabbitohs for the next three seasons, and the next two seasons, respectively.

The Burgess twins will join older brothers Luke and Sam at the Rabbitohs on long term contracts, with Luke signed until the end of the 2015 season and Sam signed until the end of the 2016 season.

George Burgess, 21, made his first grade debut in 2012 against Canterbury, and is in line to make his international debut for England at this year’s Rugby League World Cup.

George has played 19 NRL games to date, becoming an important cog in the front row rotation for South Sydney.

Thomas Burgess, 21, made his first grade debut against the Eels in round 15 this season, having already played 45 first team matches for the Bradford Bulls in the English Super League.

Rabbitohs head coach Michael Maguire is pleased the club has secured the signatures of the two prop forwards.

He said, “Both George and Tom have made an impact on the field for us since they have joined the first grade squad and they are both developing well as front rowers in the NRL.

“We have plenty of competition for spots in the front row at the Rabbitohs and they have both shown that they belong in the company of the other front rowers we have competing for positions in the forward pack.

“I’m looking forward to working with them and watching them build their games further alongside their older brothers.”

George is excited about extending his tenure with the Rabbitohs.

“It’s really exciting to be with a Club that is growing the way it is, and I’m looking forward to helping develop the winning culture that is building here,” George said.

“I’m really pumped to be part of it with my brothers and team mates as well, and to be part of what I’m sure will be a bright future.”

Thomas is equally as thrilled to have signed a new deal with South Sydney.

“It’s great to know I’ll be here for at least two more years, at such a wonderful Club,” Thomas said.

“I’m so happy to be playing alongside my team mates, including my three brothers, and I’m looking forward to playing my part in creating something special here over the coming seasons.”
