Burgess injury blow to Rabbitohs

Tom Burgess is set to miss the start of the NRL season after being ruled out with an ankle injury.

The 23 year-old suffered the injury during the Rabbitohs’ trial game victory over the Gold Coast Titans, and South Sydney‘s high performance manager Troy Thompson confirmed Burgess’ injury midweek.

The England international has been sidelined for six weeks after suffering syndesmosis last weekend, joining brother George on the treatment table, and has already started his rehabilitation back to full fitness.

Amidst the Burgess injury blow, the Rabbitohs have received a boost after discovering that half back Adam Reynolds will be fit to face Sydney Roosters in round one.

Reynolds sat out the trial game with the Titans last week, but is in contention to play against the Roosters in the season opener.
