Burgess blow for Rabbitohs

The knee injury suffered by Sam Burgess will keep him out for up to two months, South Sydney confirmed today.

Scans revealed a grade three medial ligament strain and medical staff say Burgess will be sidelined for between six and eight weeks.

Burgess was struck down in the first half of South Sydney‘s golden point victory against Wests Tigers on Sunday.

“It’s disappointing to lose Sam for a period of time, especially considering the effort he’s put in to get to where he is now,” Rabbitohs Head Coach Michael Maguire said.

“Knowing Sam as I do now, I’m certain that he will do everything he can to get back on the field as early as possible, and in the best shape possible as well.”
