Bulls move for Herbert

Bradford have prepared for the impending departure of Matt Orford by signing half-back Marc Herbert from Canberra Raiders.

Herbert, 23, has signed a one-year deal for the Bulls, and is likely to fill the void left by Orford, who the club this week confirmed has asked for a release from his contract.

The Australian, who missed much of last season with an ankle injury, has made 23 appearances in the NRL and could yet be joined with more fresh faces in the half-back positions at Odsal.

He said: “I am really excited to be joining the Bulls.  Super League will be a different experience for me and I intend to make the most of the opportunity. Having spoken to Mick Potter I am really looking forward to getting across and into pre season training.”

Rumours are still circulating that the Bulls could move for two of new coach Mick Potter’s former players, in Catalans Dragons talisman Thomas Bosc and St Helens stand-off Leon Pryce.

Potter said of Herbert: “Marc is a player I have been aware of for sometime.  I am sure he will make a very good Super League player and he brings a lot of qualities to the side.  I have spoken to him at length, outlined what I want him to do for the club and I have every confidence that he will be a big success in the role I see for him. I know he is really looking forward to joining the Bulls.”
