Castleford Tigers have completed the signing of Batley Bulldogs winger Michael Wainwright.

25 year-old Wainwright is a former Wakefield player who made 30 Super League appearances in his two terms at Belle Vue, 2004 and 2005. Last season he was one of Batley's most consistent players in their NL1 campaign and although the Heavy Woollen outfit were keen to retain him, he has opted to join the Tigers. Michael started his career with the Leeds Academy and had one season with Hunslet and two at Dewsbury before he moved to Wakefield.

Wainwright said: "I enjoyed my time at Batley and was offered a deal to stay, but the chance of going full time at the Tigers and at club that will be pressing for a return to Super league was a great opportunity."

Tigers boss Terry Matterson said: "Mike is a good solid signings for the club. He has Super League experience, which is something that we have been looking for in our signings. He is keen to develop his career and enthusiastic about the challenge that we face next year."
