Brown: We proved people wrong

Widnes playmaker Kevin Brown said the Vikings have proved a few people wrong by ending Wigan’s winning run at their home.

Wigan had not been beaten at the DW Stadium for two years but the Vikings knocked them off in a pulsating encounter.

Brown said it was a happy Widnes dressing room after the match.

“It’s really happy,” he told Sky.

“Not a lot of teams come here and get the points so to do it with the character we showed, there was 80 minutes from our hooker Aaron Heremaia, there was a lot of character there tonight.

“I think we proved a few people wrong. When you come here and win, not many teams do it. It’s a real intimidating fortress. The character of the lads, we showed we’re not just an attacking side.

“We ground the win out today, which was the most pleasing part.”

As an ex-Wigan player, Brown said the victory was massive.

“I know how much these lads work hard at Wigan,” he said.

“To come here and get the points, it’s great achievement. It feels great.”
