Brown denies cup draw knowledge prior to kick off
Nathan Brown admitted he did not know Huddersfield had drawn Warrington in the Challenge Cup until five minutes before the end of his side’s 50-14 win over London.
The Giants will face the Wolves in the semi finals of the Challenge Cup after the Wolves defeated Catalan in the south of France.
The cup draw was made live on BBC Two immediately following the Wolves’ win in Perpignan, but only moments prior to Huddersfield’s match against London on Sky television.
Brown said: “It is no good worrying about it if you are not in the hat.
“It is an exciting draw whoever you get in the semi finals, you know it’s going to be a top four or five team and that is how it is with Wigan Leeds and Warrington who are all very good teams.”
However Brown says that he will not have any thoughts of the semi final until closer to the game. The semi finals will take place on the weekend of the 14/15 July, in nine weeks time.
He said: “The thing is it is so far away, and you don’t know how different the sides are going to be playing or who is going to be fit, so we will revert back to Super League and look to do well.
“If both sides are fit and healthy you’ll get a terrific game of footy, as the Wigan and Leeds game will be as well.”
The first semi final drawn was Leeds v Wigan, a game which is likely to take place at the Galpharm Stadium. Speculation still surrounds the likely venue for the Giants match against Warrington, although the Salford City Stadium, Langtree Park and Stobart Stadium are all possible options for the RFL.
