Huddersfield playmaker Danny Brough may have suffered play-off disappointment last night, but today it has been announced that he will captain Scotland at the 2013 Rugby League World Cup.

Brough, 30, skippered the Giants to their first League Leaders Shield in 81 years in 2013, earning a nomination for the Man of Steel award along the way.

Bravehearts head coach Steve McCormack sees Brough as an example for the rest of his side to follow, and he said, “Danny has had a fantastic season both individually and as captain of the Huddersfield Giants.

“His leadership quality is something that I’ve kept an eye on during the year and he is an ideal choice to lead us into the competition.”

Brough, recently named the Rugby League Writer’s Association Player of the Year, scored a total of nine tries and 153 goals in 31 appearances this season.
