Broncos welcome back trio as pre-season begins

London Broncos have started pre-season training today, looking forward to the return of three players who sat out the end of the 2012 season.

Winger Liam Colbon, who joined from Hull KR last year, has undergone a shoulder reconstruction after being restricted to just eight appearances during his first year at the club.

Another ex-Robin, utility Matt Cook, suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury which required an operation, while Australian back-rower Shane Rodney was struck down with a neck injury.

Head Physio Cerian Parham said: “Liam has worked very hard with both the medical and conditioning staff throughout his rehab and during the off-season to ensure he is in a good place to start the season.

“Shane had a difficult year with injuries last year but will be ready to start pre-season.

“Matt has also been excellent during the off-season following extensive knee surgery. He has had a very positive review with his surgeon and has commenced his running programme.”

Rodney, a high profile signing from NRL club Manly, made 14 appearances in 2012, two more than Cook.

Another player, centre David Howell, has undergone a thumb operation after playing on throughout the season following an injury back in March.
