Briscoe set for knee scan

Oldham forward Craig Briscoe will have a scan on his knee amid fears that the injury may be more serious than first thought.

Signed from Barrow Raiders, the 22-year-old back-rower was hurt in his second game for Roughyeds when he was tackled near the Raiders line in a pre-season game against his former club.

Briscoe missed the Law Cup win at Rochdale and the first Championship game against London Broncos.

He is being examined by the medical staff at the Roughyeds’ partner club Huddersfield Giants, who beleive he might have damaged the knee bone.

Halfback Danny Grimshaw, another new Oldham signing this year, missed the 22-0 defeat by Broncos at Stalybridge with calf and ankle injuries, but he will be assessed at training today ahead of Sunday’s game at Leigh Centurions.

Prop Jack Spencer, who suffered a deep gash close to an eye in the London game, and halfback Lewis Palfrey, who has a calf complaint, will also be checked out.
