Leeds winger Tom Briscoe is ready to shake off the shackles of injury and tear into action against St Helens in the Challenge Cup semi-final on Friday evening.

Briscoe’s 2015 has been marred by long-term injury, but he has recovered just in time to help his team in their bid to reach Wembley and win the Cup for the second successive season.

“I would have liked to have got back a couple of weeks earlier but it wasn’t to be,” he said.

“My recovery didn’t go as fast as I would have liked but I was happy to get one game in and get the rust out of the way before the start of the Super 8s as well as the Cup this weekend.

“I had earmarked this game as one I’d like to be back for. For me in my second year at Leeds to play in a second final would be amazing. One of the reasons I came to the club was to play in the big games and so far it’s lived up to that.

“We’d love to retain the Cup this year. Once you’ve won there, you get a taste of it and you want that again and again.

“We know it’s going to be a real tough game. Saints have a big pack and some great half-backs and outside backs that can take advantage. Watching them over the last few weeks, they can score from deep inside their own half.”
