Briscoe: We have to keep pushing

Luke Briscoe says Featherstone won’t take their foot off the gas despite sealing their place in The Qualifiers.

Briscoe insists Rovers still have plenty to play for, starting with Sunday’s home game against Halifax.

“It is good to know we are safe in the Qualifiers but we still have to keep pushing, with two massive games of the season still to play,” he said.

“Halifax will really test us, they are coming here looking for two massive points, but we won’t be holding back.

“We are expecting a big-game atmosphere, so I hope both sets of fans get into the spirit of things – and keep showing great support.

“The Super 8s provides an exciting challenge for us here. To be going up against Super League sides will be fantastic and we are looking forward to ripping in come August.

“There is a huge prize at stake and we believe we can achieve something special this year.”

Briscoe returned from a six-week stint on the sidelines over the weekend.

He overcame an ankle injury sustained in Featherstone’s Summer Bash defeat against London, but is now back fit and raring to go.

“It was really good to get back out there with the lads but not playing for six weeks has definitely taken its toll on me, I was feeling it,” added Briscoe.

“I had to get stuck in from the first whistle. Since I have been away there have been a couple of lads who have stepped up to contest for the position and they have done well.

“I will need to be at the top of my game, so I can keep my place in the team – that is for sure.”
