Briggs: Rovers can still improve

Kyle Briggs says Featherstone still have plenty to work on ahead of Sunday’s trip to Bradford.

Briggs returned to action to help the Rovers record a 20-20 draw with league-leaders Hull KR last weekend, but Briggs admits there are still areas the team can improve on.

“Last weekend was a good result for us, but we have still got a lot to work on before we face Bradford,” said Briggs.

“We need to cut out silly errors and just make it a bit easier for ourselves, instead of letting our opponents get a roll on like both Hull KR and London have done in recent weeks.

“Despite not winning over the last two weeks the desire from the lads was definitely there last Sunday. We will take that to Odsal this weekend.

“Bradford are not a bad side and we know we will have to be on our game if we’re going to come away with the win.

“I played in the cup game earlier in the season, at Odsal, and it was a tough game – one which went right to wire.”

Briggs, who kicked the vital goal to earn the Rovers a point last weekend, is hoping for a sustained spell on the field.

“I was delighted to get back out there last weekend,” added Briggs.

“I had been looking forward to it since the moment Jon (Sharp) told me I was going to get the nod.

“I have been working hard in training, keeping my head down and putting the effort in, so it feels good to be back out there with the lads.

“Hopefully I can cement a place in the starting line-up in the coming weeks and I get another chance to show people what I can do.”
