Briggs aiming to cement Sheffield place

Sheffield Eagles stand-off Kyle Briggs is keen to make sure that he keeps his place in the side after doing well against Whitehaven at the weekend.

Sheffield coach Mark Aston has rotated Cory Aston and Dominic Brambani, as well as Briggs, in his half-backs so far this season.

Now Briggs is looking to cement his place in the side.

“I enjoy being back in the side and hopefully I won’t get dropped again” the 27-year-old told the Sheffield Star.

“I’m hoping I’ve done enough so I won’t be left out now. All I can do now is keep working hard on my game and keep doing my job as a half-back, and don’t give the staff an excuse to pull me out of the team.

“I thought we started off well against Whitehaven, and we talked about that all week because the last couple of weeks we started pretty poorly.

“That was the main focus and I thought that we did that well, but we took our foot off the pedal in the second half.

“We let them get their heads up a little and fell away from our game plan as well, but we will get back onto it next week and fix it up.”
